The Mojave Beat is committed to promptly correcting any factual errors that appear in its reporting. - Minor copyediting corrections (such as misspellings, typos, or formatting issues) are corrected silently, with an internal note kept for our own records.
- Substantive factual corrections (errors affecting the meaning or accuracy of a story) typically are corrected in the original story with an explicit correction statement — “CORRECTION:” or “CORRECTION, [Month Day, Year]:” — indicating what was changed and when. Corrections made the same day of publication do not require a date stamp.
- Immaterial factual errors caught during routine updates to evergreen content are corrected silently as part of that update, and the story carries an “Originally published/updated” note reflecting the revision.
The Mojave Beat typically does not delete or unpublish stories to resolve factual disputes; corrections are made transparently to the original record.
